It is true that sometimes I lie. In special circumstances, it is most likely because I have to do it. Be it not to hurt somebody or not to hurt myself. But I am not a good liar. Every time I had to lie, I am sad and have to convince myself that the opposite will be even worse. In the other side, when I tell the truth but they don't think that I am telling the truth, I am also sad. So???
Is it so difficult being a purely honest person? When somebody asks this question, I would answer 'yes', of course I am not denying that exceptions exist. But people deal with lies everyday and thank God that we have a choice to believe it or not. We have freedom to choose telling lie or not. Wondering if people always tell the truth I think is too naive.
It applies when we critique on others. Shall we tell the truth though it hurts? Or tell lie since we can't bear to see a disappointed face? When I have a choice, after thinking the consequences, I would rather tell the truth and offer myself to help him/her to remedy the pain it might causes. Though it hurts you, but believe me, I won't let you die *something poetic like that*
For me, it is an arguable statement that we have to accept all the constructive critique about ourselves or about our choice (in anything, most common in life) or about things we've taken for granted. Some say that we should accept constructive critiques for our own good, I agreed. But, who define whether or not it is constructive. When it comes to a personal choice of an adult-minded-person, I believe s/he is the only person who can make this decision, and not anybody else.
Why I say so? When people tend to critique somebody, I assume that it should be a constructive one, forget about an intentional mental-breakdown-er who like to see others fail. But, how the people accept it, is totally depend on his/her current well-being state.
It depends also on how it is delivered. And, who is the talker. One should not be a smoker when preaching a lung cancer prone by smoking hazard (a radical example). Some critique can be in a soft-spoken sound or in a thunder or desperate scream.
I would remind myself that:
1. In several cases it might started from us. We are in position to make others think that we are always in their side almost in anything (ref. Desperate-Housewives 17-11-05) . We have yet previous experience when we have a different opinion with the person.
2. Sometimes, we don't let others know us well to make our points clear. They misjudge that we are only imposing our beliefs and expecting them to be like us. Which is not always the case.
3. and some other times, we have selective amnesia by easily forgetting that we have changed, then so does other.
Oh myself, please remember these three points... always!
* for Inul, it's all up to you on how you accept the critique, but keep smiling and look forward.
** for Yanti, go go go, fight fight fight and WIN !
*** for Elly, my choices might not yours.
**** for my sister, Hana, I am happy that you made that decision.
