Once I have read an article saying that we should not love our company, but our job. Firstly, I think this is too good to be true. When I worked for Schlumberger, I spent most likely 20 hours a day to do my job; the rest 4 hours was the sleeping time. I dedicated (most of) myself to my job. I really liked my job. I liked the challenges and the opportunity of doing things that seems unreachable, but I could finally did it successfully. At the end, it felt like an addict, but an 'enjoyable' one.
My accomplishments made me happy and drove me to strive for the next one. Though, I do believe it was not me alone, God with me and I had all the support from people who loves me. This feeling of being blessed and having repeated successes motivated me much stronger than the demotivator sides.
One day, I hit the point when the company disappointed me badly for the same ol' reason. I couldn’t bear it. I felt as being betrayed, but for them, I've been paid, so no debt - it was paid off. No obligation to make me happy or what so called.
So, I asked myself, has the amount of the money can buy my life?
The answer was no ...
and still NO.
