Indonesia still safe from H1N1 flu: Health Minister

Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said no cases of the H1N1 strain of flu had yet been reported in the country, though the government has taken anticipatory measures.
"Around 100 hospitals have been alerted and prepared for swine flu treatments," Supari told tempointeraktif.com. She added the H1N1 flu was not as dangerous as avian flu. "With swine flu, only two deaths have been reported in every 100 people infected, whereas with avian flu, the mortality rate is 80 percent," she said. Supari, however, continue to urge the public to remain on guard and advised those who had recently fallen ill with the flu or coughs to wear a face mask and contact the nearest healthcare center. (*)

Kenali Gejala Flu Babi

Untuk beberapa hari ini, di beberapa siaran televisi ataupun di berbagai surat kabar di Indonesia memuat berita tentang penyakit yang dikenal dengan flu babi atau swine flu. Meski belum sampai ke Indonesia, namun kita harus mewaspadai virus swine flu atau flu babi yang telah merenggut puluhan nyawa di Meksiko.
Untuk itu, kita mesti mengetahui gejala-gejalanya yaitu Pada umumnya, gejala infeksi flu babi pada manusia mirip dengan flu biasa pada manusia, yakni :
- Demam secara tiba-tiba
- Batuk.
- Nyeri otot
- Sakit tenggorokan
- Kelelahan yang berlebih
- Muntah-muntah
- Diare
Namun penyakit ini tidak terdapat pada daerah tropis. Sebab penyakit ini hanya terdapat pada Negara atau daerah yang memiliki 4 musim atau subtropics. Hanya saja kita perlu mewaspadai. Sebab penyakit ini bersifat zoonosis dan juga dapat menular antar manusia.
