I don't know how many times one should apologize when making someone else angry?

I am not angry easily, that's why this is so hurt me. Should I angry more often then to make angry is easy? no way!
I remember one story about a man who write all the goodness that his brother does to him in the rock, but all the bad things in the sand.
Someone ask why he did that, and he said : "when the wave comes and sweep the beach, what he wrote in the rock will stay, but those in the sand will disappear"
